2010 TK Chiba Shihan asked the last three pioneers of Kenshiro Abbe Sensei's first group of students from the 1950s to join with him to pay homage to the " Hut Dojo " with its amazing history and lineage..Chiba Sensei first visited the Hut Dojo on his arrival to the UK in 1966. This was the first of several meetings where the early days were lived again in pain and laughter..Sadly in February 2011 Haydn Foster Sensei died leaving Henry Ellis and Derek Eastman as the last of the original pioneers.

Ken Williams Sensei - The first UK Aikidoka...Williams Sensei a Judoka with K Abbe in 1955.. Williams Sensei would be Abbe Sensei's first student of Aikido, he began teaching Aikido at the Hut Dojo in Hillingdon London.Abbe Sensei created the `British Aikido Council` - Williams Sensei was appointed the National Coach for Aikido The Hut Dojo was initially just a Judo Dojo. The UK has a proud Aikido history and lineage from its inception in 1955 by the legendary Budo Master Kenshiro Abbe Sensei - The Hut Dojo was the first and only Aikido Dojo in the UK from which the roots of British Aikido evolved to a dojo in every town and city today.The Hut honours the memory of - K Abbe - T Abe - M Harada - M Nakazono - M Noro - H Kobayashi - M Otani - T Otani - S Hamano 9th dan - H Michigami - TK Chiba.

This old converted 8mm film taken at the American USAF Base - West Drayton UK - The USAF European Judo Championships - The presiding 4 star General enjoyed the Aikido demonstration so much he asked for it to be repeated. From this demonstration we had many American students join the Hut Dojo.

Earliest Known UK Aikido Demonstration 1963.

This is possibly the earliest known film of an Aikido demonstration in the UK. Henry `Harry` Ellis with Derek Eastman and Jeff Goodwin carried out this demo for the USAF European Judo Championships held at the West Drayton Air Base near London..The presiding 4 star general enjoyed the demo so much he asked for it to be carried out a second time.

The Abuse of KyuShinDo
We now see people claiming to have dan grades in ` KyuShinDo ` how can you have a dan grade in a philosophy / theory ?? ....KyuShinDo is a philosophy not a martial art.

I have stated many times `` Kenshiro Abbe Sensei developed his philosophy of KyuShinDo as applicable to Judo.

Kenshiro Abbe Sensei NEVER repeat NEVER
Ever taught Aiki-Justsu or Aiki-Budo or JuJutsu or JuJitsu....Anyone making the following claims are talking a load of round objects...He never taught any of the following ``KyuShinDo Karate `` ~ `` KyuShinDo Aikido `` ~ `` KyuShinDo JuJutsu `` ~ KyuShinDo Aiki-Jutsu `` ~ KyuShiDo Aiki-Jujutsu `` ... There were many honoured guests - Mr Vincent Sumpter the British Aikido Board Chairman was cordially invited - he refused - Mr Sumpter advised his Executive that if they insisted on his attendance - he would resign. The members deserve better than that.

Wednesday 26th of August. TK Chiba Sensei met the three remaining pioneers from the 1950s of British Aikido at the now Famous Hut Dojo in Hillingdon, London. After lunch in the Hut Pub adjacent to the Dojo, Chiba Sensei presented Sensei's Haydn Foster ~ Henry Ellis ~ Derek Eastman with their AikiKai recognised 6th dan through the ` International BiranKai `.

It was a great atmosphere to stand in the old Hut Dojo where 50 years ago they had all received their Shodan certificates signed by OSensei Morihei Ueshiba, and on this day to receive their 6th dan certificat from TK Chiba Chihan who was a uchi deshi to OSensei in the 1950s & 1960s.
